Orange County SeniorStriders

A mall-walking program designed for all levels of walkers, from the novice to the seasoned walker. Walking can be done on an individual basis or in groups.

Eligibility: Orange County residents age 55 and older

Where: University Mall in Chapel Hill, a climate-controlled environment with public restrooms

When: Meets at 8:00 AM on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at University Mall Center Court for group warm-up then proceeds to walk

Cost: Free

Registration: Not required

What to expect: Walking participants can join in the 8:00 AM exercise warm-up and a health talk by local experts on a variety of topics and a breakfast provided by UNC Healthcare

Other Walking Programs

University Mall is open Monday-Friday at 7:30 AM for those wanting to walk on a regular schedule.

Central Orange Senior Center has designated walking times for its walking program (919) 245-2015.

  • National Senior Health and Fitness Day Celebration, last Wednesday in May
