Orange County Board of Elections Mission

 

The Orange County Board of Elections is the agency charged at the local level with the responsibility of administering the elections process in Orange County. 

Our mission is to ensure that elections are free, fair, accurate, convenient and accessible to all voters in Orange County. 

The department ensures adherence to Local, State, and Federal elections laws, rules and regulations.

Composition of the Board of Elections

The Board of Elections is appointed by the North Carolina State Board of Elections, and members serve terms of two years beginning the Tuesday following the third Monday in July in odd numbered years. No more than two members of the County Board of Elections shall belong to the same political party.

The Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 2:00 p.m.  Board meetings are usually held in the Board of Elections Conference Room, located at 208 S. Cameron Street, Hillsborough, NC 27278.  You may email the Director of the Orange County Board of Elections for questions regarding monthly Board meetings or to ask to be placed on the agenda.

All meetings are open to the public.
