NC Regional Vasectomy Program - Orange County

A vasectomy (va·sec·to·me) is a permanent birth control method for men who don’t want to have children. It’s a safe, one-day surgery performed by a doctor. The Orange County Health Department is part of the Regional Vasectomy Program offered by the NC Department of Health and Human Services. Through this program, males living in Orange County who are 21 years of age or older may qualify for a free to low-cost vasectomy.

Eligibility:

  • Open to males 21 years of age or older
  • Must be a North Carolina resident
  • Uninsured or insured by a policy that doesn't cover vasectomy
  • Must live in Orange County if applying through the Orange County Health Department

If eligible, you will get:

  • Pre-surgery counseling and education by a nurse
  • Vasectomy services based on a sliding-fee scale
  • 30-day waiting period in case you change your mind
