Share Your Holiday Program
Child, family or senior sponsorship through the Share Your Holiday Program is a wonderful opportunity for families, community groups, churches, businesses, neighborhoods and individuals to help relieve the holiday financial pressures from families in need.
Those in need of sponsorship through the Share Your Holiday Program include foster children, adolescent parents, unemployed parents looking for work, adults in care homes, and others involved with agency social work programs.
Sponsoring a family involves purchasing new gifts for each child in the family and a household gift the whole family can enjoy. Gift cards for a holiday meal are also appreciated. Sponsoring a foster child involves purchasing new gifts for the child and could include gifts for any siblings in the foster home.
Senior sponsorship includes sponsoring either a senior 65 and older or a disabled adult. Sponsors receive a report about the person being sponsored with gift ideas and purchase a gift or gifts for the senior and provide holiday meal items, special snacks or gift cards.
Sponsors receive a report with the children’s names, ages and sizes, and the children’s wish list for Christmas. With this information, sponsors can purchase items or gift cards of their choosing. To help you determine what size family to sponsor, we estimate the cost to be $150-$200 per child depending on the age. A household gift is optional and should not cost more than $50. Gifts are dropped off at either of our office locations and delivered to the family by the social worker.
Last year, due to wonderful community support, the Share Your Holiday Program was able to serve more than 350 needy children and adults and we expect to have more requests to help families than ever before. Our number of foster children has also increased this year, as has the number of elderly and disabled adults who need our care and support. Without the assistance and support of our local sponsors, many people would feel alone and forgotten during this festive season.
