Become a Sponsor

Sponsorship is a wonderful opportunity for families, Sunday School groups, churches, businesses, Girls Sharing Gifts neighborhoods, and individuals to help support families in crisis. Sponsors have the option of sponsoring individual children, families, seniors, or disabled adults.

Sponsoring a family involves purchasing new gifts for each child in the family and a household gift the whole family can enjoy. Gift cards for a holiday meal are also appreciated. Sponsors should plan to spend $200 - $250 per child, although amounts can vary depending on the child's age. Sponsors of seniors or disabled adults should plan to spend $75- $100.

How to Sponsor

 

Step 1:

Decide what type of family you would like to sponsor. (child only, family group, elderly adult, etc.)   Determine how many families you can sponsor.

Step 2:

Call Serena McPherson at the Orange County Department of Social Services at

919.245.2871.  Be prepared to give your name, address and contact information.  You will also be asked what type of sponsorship you are interested in and the number of families, children, seniors, or disabled adults you would like to sponsor.

Step 3:

You will receive information about the family that you are sponsoring, including wish lists and labels.

Step 4:

Shop for your family.

Step 5:

Drop off gifts for your sponsored family by December 10.
