Real Change from Spare Change - initiated in the fall of 2007 by the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, Real Change from Spare Change is a community-wide, collaborative initiative designed to educate, encourage, and empower Chapel Hill and Carrboro citizens, and the UNC community to evoke real change for those in need. Giving money to people on the street is a band-aid approach to helping. In reality, free food, shelter, and services for the homeless are available in our community. Giving to Real Change from Spare Change insures that your money is matched to the true need by funding qualified professionals who address the causes of homelessness. Funds raised by Real Change from Spare Change support the first strategy of the Orange County Ten Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness by supplementing funds for a street outreach program.

Continuum of Care Committee - this committee works collaboratively to secure funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide permanent supportive housing and services to people experiencing homelessness in our community. The Continuum of Care (CoC) Committee is also responsible for ensuring Orange County meets HUD's mandates for conducting an annual Point-in-Time Count of the homeless and utilizing a Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) to gather data required by Congress related to homelessness in our community.
