Juried Art Exhibit for May 15, 2015 – August 1, 2015

Eligibility

Artists living or who have art studios in Orange, Alamance, Caswell, Person, Chatham, Durham or Wake counties.

Submission Requirements

  • A completed application (see page 3)  
  • Five (5) digital images on a labeled CD, images do not have to represent actual artwork that will be shown in the exhibit. One of these images may be used for promotional advertisement. Note: CD will not be returned.

 

Exhibit Requirements

 

  • Original works of art, handcrafted by the artist
  • Any media
  • All works must be of material stable enough to withstand handling and exhibiting, suitably framed and/or prepared for hanging
  • Artist agrees to display a minimum of ten (10) pieces
  • The library will publicize the selected artist(s) in a press release, on its website and on social media. The artist(s) will provide a statement of work to be included in promotional materials and will provide contact information for further interviews/questions from press
  • The artist is allowed to sell his/her work, to advertise for the show and circulate promotional materials
    • Artwork sold during the show, must remain installed until the end of the exhibition. All transactions are between the artist and the buyer, with no commission being sought by the library
    • On all promotional material, the library asks that the following information be included:

  • Artist must prepare labeling for artwork. Labels can be placed on hanging system, or on the wall with pre-approved painter’s tape only. Any wall damage is the responsibility of the artist
  • The artist(s) are encouraged to host an opening reception for the show at the Orange County Public Library. The library will send out a press release, include on its calendar and post to its social media channels that the event is occurring. The artist is responsible for providing food and drink (non-alcoholic) for the reception. The artist is responsible for setting up prior to and cleaning up after reception. Note: Exact location of reception will be coordinated with library staff
  • Orange County Public Library does provide suitable hanging and display materials, including a locked glass display in the foyer. Artists are responsible for hanging/displaying exhibit. Library staff will coordinate the installation of exhibit with the artist(s)
