April 2, 2014 – Despite chilly, dreary weather, more than 50 individuals came out to a library community engagement meeting on March 25 in Carrboro. The subject of the meeting: the proposed Southern Branch Library.
Orange County Public Library to Host Artist Meet-and-Greet
March 31, 2014 - The OCPL Main Library will host a meet-and-greet with Hillsborough folk artist Sam Ezell on Sunday, April 6, from 1 pm – 2 pm. Mr. Ezell’s work has been a part of the “Road Trip: Folk Art from Mike’s Art Truck” exhibit on display at the OCPL Main Library, since January 24.
Orange County Public Library Announces April Programs for Adults
March 31, 2014 - Celebrate National Library Week all month long. The Orange County Public Library (OCPL) will host an assortment of activities, events and workshops. In particular, OCPL will host an open house during National Library Week on Wednesday, April 16.
Orange County Public Library Announces April Kid and Teen Programs
March 31, 2014 - Orange County Public Library (OCPL) invites youth of all ages to participate in a variety of free and unexpected activities in the month of April. Make crafts, sing karaoke, learn how cartoon and make an app.
March 26, 2014 - They would like it to have open spaces with comfy couches. A cafe offering local coffee would be nice. Someone even asked for cats to be lounging in the windows. But books are definitely a must at the proposed Orange County Public Library Southern Branch location. About 50 residents attended a public input session on the proposed county library Tuesday at Carrboro's Hickory Tavern.

March 25, 2014 - This is Nerys Levy, and I’m a friend of the Carrboro Branch Library. Over the past 25 years our group has struggled to get a fully functioning branch of the Orange County Public Library in Carrboro. We are now delighted to announce that the Southern Branch Library is becoming a reality.

Orange County Public Library Seeks Public Input on Proposed Branch
March 19, 2014 — The Orange County Public Library (OCPL) will host two community engagement meetings regarding the proposed Southern Branch Library. The purpose of the upcoming meetings is two-fold: to gather input on the current proposed location in downtown Carrboro, and learn what library services are needed by the community.

March 19, 2014 - You may have heard the talk of building a library in the southern end of Orange County in 2017. Orange County government is currently evaluating space in the development at 300 East Main in Carrboro to locate an Orange County Public Library Southern Branch.

Orange County Public Library Seeks Entries: Juried Art Exhibit
March 13, 2014 - The Orange County Public Library invites artists who live or work in Orange, Alamance, Caswell, Person, Chatham, Durham, or Wake Counties to participate in the library’s Summer 2014 Juried Art Exhibit. The submission deadline for entries is on Tuesday, April 8, 2014.

March 5, 2014 - Orange County Public Library and the Friends of the Library will host a social media workshop on Saturday, March 22. Sponsored and conducted by Friends of North Carolina Public Libraries, the workshop will run from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the OCPL Main Library in Hillsborough.
Orange County Invites Public to Participate in Community Read
March 4, 2014 - The Orange County Human Relations Commission is hosting its annual Community READ event. The gathering will take place at the Orange County Main Library on Monday, March 31, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Library is located at 137 W. Margaret Lane in Hillsborough.
Orange County Public Library Now Accepting Online Fine Payments
March 4, 2014 - The Orange County Public Library (OCPL) is now accepting online credit card payments. OCPL Main Library and Cybrary customers can pay library fines through their online account.
Orange County Public Library Offers Free Tax Forms
February 28, 2014 - Orange County Public Library (OCPL) is pleased to offer select tax forms free to the public this tax season. These documents are available at the OCPL Main Library’s second floor. Patrons can also print up to 10 pages of any tax forms free of charge at the library.

Orange County Public Library to Host Financial Literacy Series
January 21, 2014 - The Orange County Public Library , in partnership with the Compass Center for Women and Families, is pleased to announce a new financial literacy workshop series. This three-part series will take place at the OCPL-Main Library on the first Saturday of the month from February - April. Each workshop will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m.

OCPL-Carrboro Branch Presents Photography Exhibit
January 15, 2013 - The OCPL-Carrboro Branch will present a new photography exhibit from January 16 - March 31, 2014. “Life is a Beautiful Thing” celebrates the life and work of Sophie Steiner, who lost a courageous battle with cancer in August 2013, at the age of 14.

January 14, 2013 - The Orange County Main Library will host a folk art exhibition from January 24 - March 24. “Road Trip: Folk Art from Mike’s Art Truck” is a 20-piece collection of works from self-taught artists as curated by Hillsborough residents Greg and Karen Mack.

January 8, 2014 - OCPL is excited to begin 2014 with an expanded volunteer program for teens and adults. The volunteer program is one way OCPL seeks to link up with individuals in the county, create service opportunities and provide enhanced library services.

January 4, 2014 - The Orange County Public Library received nearly 100 toys and more than 1,000 pounds of food as part of this year’s “Food and Toys for Fines” Drive. Throughout the holidays patrons were invited to donate food or toys in exchange for reduced library fines.
