|

Buck Knight retired November 1982. He was well known for his stern
attitude toward discipline and other things. A retirement party held
at the Big Barn consisted of over 400 people. Former County
Commissioner Anne Barnes and her husband Billy, sang a song "The
Legend of Buck Night." The theme of the song was "Buck's a tough old
sheriff, but a darn nice guy."

miles from town. Member general assembly. Commissary officer for
troops during Revolution. |

Sheriff of Orange County North Carolina, and one of the nine men who
selected Chapel Hill as the site for University of North Carolina. |
