Check-Out Limits
You can check out up to 40 items on a card at any given time. Within this limit you can have up to:
Renew Materials
Most borrowed items may be renewed up to two times, unless the item has been requested by another customer. You may renew items:
- By calling any library location during business hours (a library card number is required to renew materials over the phone)
- In person at any library location
- Through your online account
Request Holds
As a library card holder, you may request to have library materials held for you. You may place holds on items currently available on the library shelf; however, the library cannot guarantee holds will be immediately filled as another library user may have already placed a hold on the materials.
When the materials become available, the library will contact you by email or telephone. We will hold your requested materials for 7 days. You may request a hold:
- In person at any library location
- On the phone (you must have your library account number handy)
- Through the online catalog
Additional Information
Interlibrary Loan
If you would like to borrow a book not owned by Orange County Public Library, you may request an interlibrary loan to borrow books from another library system. You may make interlibrary loan requests in person at any Orange County Public Library location. We will require a processing fee of $3 at the time you make your request.
